ease up^ explained.
ease up^ is an upcoming drum&bass event series, taking place at the conne island, leipzig. the first party will be launched on april 21st, introducing morphy as headliner. he will be accompanied by lowcut and histeppa, the former eventually entitled ‘the morphy of leipzig’. further events are not scheduled yet, as they surely cannot be arranged before the summer break.
ease up^ also is a collective of – at the time of writing – no fewer than seven drum&bass addicts. they all combine a wide experience of organising events, including all the stuff that needs to be done beforehand, meanwhile and afterwards. most important, they all bring in a certain perspective on how things should be done. all the ideas and skills combined make a great foundation for that ambitious project.
the original idea arose by sunliq and lxc. the intention was to (re-)install a series of events after a slow but steady retreat from the established locations. one of those clubs important to the local scene was (still is, but certainly not in the field of drum&bass music) the conne island. lxc, head of alphacut records, was offered to do a record release party there some time before. unfortunately, we could not manage it in that short amount of time. when the idea of a whole event series came up, we decided to catch up on that and start off with morphy, who released – besides exit records, voodoo music, foundation x, function and others – on alphacut records.
ease up^ prospectively complements the island-based event series electric island (techno/house) and sub.island (dubstep). its style is influenced by all the crew members, but will by convention reflect the current eased-up, non-ravey development in drum&bass.
